Covid-19 Response Updates

Oxfam has been working with conflict affected, poor and marginalized communities in Myanmar since 1999. During this time, we have come to see some of the very real challenges these communities, particularly women, face as they strive to meet their basic needs, exercise their rights and move out of poverty. In light of the Covid-19 crisis, we are more concerned than ever about the rights and resilience of the communities we work with. That’s why, together with partners, we are responding to this crisis in a number of ways with the aim of saving lives now and supporting a more equitable and just Myanmar during the recovery period and beyond.
Over the past several weeks, the Oxfam in Myanmar team has been working hard to re-orient ongoing work and start new initiatives. To date, Oxfam and partners have reached tens of thousands of people across the country as we support women leaders to engage their communities in prevention efforts, scale-up life-saving water and sanitation assistance to displaced communities, and deliver soap, hygiene kits and personal protective equipment to those who need it most. As we continue and expand these efforts, we will provide regular updates on our website and Facebook page.
